"There is always one band at a festival who - having never even heard of before – you leave rabidly yammering about a) how brilliant they are and b) how everyone needs to hear them. For me, and for The Great Escape 2012, that band happen to be The Naturals from Bristol. Early morning in the cobblestoned stable atmosphere of The Green Door, what seemed a routine “let’s check them out” turned into one of the highlights of the weekend. It’s easy to detect overtones of Godspeed! You Black Emperor and early Hope of The States in their extraordinary ability to draw sheer blood, sweat and waves of heart-breaking memories from your soul with sound alone; it’s easy to hear echoes of Foals, Battles and This Town Needs Guns in their ability to layer intense and hypnotic melodies, rhythms and patterns on top of each other. But what they do is all their own and the manner and confidence in which they make the stage incontrovertibly theirs is stunning. They finish the set on their knees conjuring up an overwhelming wave of feedback and effects from their multiple pedals, before leaping to their feet to crash seamlessly back into the song with twice the energy of before. My headache is gone; my hangover scampers for cover and I’m throwing myself around with a sheer joy for life and music. Absolutely magnificent." - DiS review of The Naturals at The Great Escape

The Naturals are a band from Bristol, England. Initially formed in 2004 before any of them were even in their teens (and are still only a tender 19-20 years old) the Naturals create a sound that is as textural as it is deafening. They can make guitars sound like anything, and often do; sometimes delicate, sometimes brutal, sometimes sanguine, but always beautiful. The Naturals have spent their teens slowly but surely building a reputation that has led to them being widely regarded as the best up and coming band in Bristol, having schooled themselves in Geoff Barrow’s (Portishead) State Of Art Studios and honing their craft on the local gig circuit. Live shows are incendiary, drilled yet anarchic, equal parts sonic overload and hushed tones, distinctively natural, distinctively them.

Into 2012, and the Naturals have grown a few inches taller. The release of a limited edition, double A side hand crafted gatefold 7" through up and coming label Howling Owl was supported by a triumphant sell out hometown show, complete with vinyl and art fair and post show set from their DJ brothers-in-arms Young Echo Collective, that reflected their eclectic and artistic sensibilities.

"The Naturals sound like an underwater Foals. Current single 'Concrete Sea' is one of the finest pieces of music we've heard all year."
Drowned In Sound

“The Naturals have matured and ripened delightfully into a distinguished and beautiful post-rock band.”
BBC Introducing

“Fusing genres to create a refreshing twist, giving stadium-sized rock a refreshing grittiness and honesty”
Artrocker

"The Naturals' debut strikes a fine line between cyclical, chiming guitars borrowed from the art rock spectrum and the colours of epic melancholy found in the ensemble vocals."
Rough Trade

The Naturals (are) the sound that dreams make in the dark; all sweet, harmonious, and utterly beguiling”
